Detailed Itinerary

Deadline for reservation: June 16, 2017

Day 1: Arrive in Mexico

8 nights Hotel Camino Real Polanco, Mexico City.  Dinner.

  • Arrival at Mexico International Airport
  • Check-in at the hotel
  • Private group orientation meeting at hotel at 6PM for one hour including tea/coffee
  • Dinner at hotel

Full Day Itinerary: Arrive in Mexico City today and transfer to your hotel independently (private transfers are available for an additional cost if required). 

Dinner at hotel.

Day 2: Mexico City

Breakfast, lunch & dinner.

  • Visit to Zocalo
  • Walking tour from Madero to Girasoles
  • Bellas Artes/Almeda

Cathedral, Mexico CityFull Day Itinerary:  This morning we depart for Zocalo. Continue with a visit to the main Cathedral and Palacio Nacional. Enjoy a walking tour from Madero to Girasoles.

Lunch will be at Los Girasoles.

Atfer lunch, continue to Bellas Artes/Almeda. Return to hotel via Reforma.

Day 3: Mexico City

Breakfast & lunch.

  • Visit of the Colonia Hipódromo-Condesa neighborhood
  • Visit Casa Gilardi
  • Afternoon visit of Carcamo de Rio Lerma

Early morning departure to the neighborhood of Colonia Hipódromo-Condesa and visit Modern Suburbs/Modern Houses. Later, continue toward Barragán House/Studio; Ortega Garden (if possible).  Visit Casa Gilardi before lunch.

Later this afternoon, continue to Carcamo de Rio Lerma. Return to hotel via Condesa.

The remainder of the afternoon will be free at your leisure.

Day 4: Mexico City

Breakfast & lunch.

  • Visit to Multifamiliar Miguel Alemán and the Unidad Independencia
  • Casa Estudio Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo
  • Visit to UNAM and Espacio Escultórico

Lunch at San Angel Inn.

After lunch, continue with a visit to UNAM and Espacio Escultórico (and possibly Anahuacalli by Diego Rivera). 

Return to hotel. Evening free at leisure.

Day 5: Mexico City/Teotihuacan/Mexico City

Breakfast, lunch & dinner.

  • Visit to Teotihuacan
  • Later visit Acolman

Lunch at LA GRUTA restaurant.

Continue to Acolman for a visit of the 16th Century Temple and the monastery. 

Return to Mexico City.

Day 6 : Mexico City - Special Felix Candela Day

Breakfast & lunch.

Lunch included at the Restaurant Los Manantiales.

This afternoon continue to Iglesia de la Virgen de la Medalla Milagrosa, la Capilla de San Vicente de Paul and Capilla de Nuestra Señora de la Soledad (El Altillo). Return to hotel.

Day 7: Mexico City

Breakfast & dinner.

  • Visit to the Anthropology Museum & Tamayo Museum
  • Museo Experimental El Eco

Aerial view of TlatelolcoFull Day Itinerary: This morning we will visit the Anthropology Museum & Tamayo Museum. 

Continue to lunch after these visits.  

After lunch, depart to Museo "El Eco" (on the way to Tlatelolco) and then continue to Tlatelolco and visit Conjunto habitacional Nonoalco-Tatelolco, Plaza de las Tres Culturas, Church with art work by Mathias Goeritz, Edificio SRE now a Cultural Center of UNAM.  Time permitting, we may also visit Parroquia de San Antonio de las Huertas, and Iglesia del Perpetuo Socorro.

Day 8: Mexico City

Breakfast, lunch & dinner.

  • Depart for San Angel to visit Bazaar Sábado
  • Afternoon bus tour of Las Lomas de Chapultepec

Bazaar SábadoFull Day Itinerary: After breakfast, depart to San Angel for visit the Bazaar Sábado including some time at the local artisan market & nearby shops.

Lunch included in a local restaurant

Continue with an afternoon bus tour of Las Lomas de Chapultepec. Visit the Anglican Church by Carlos Mijares, and time permitting, visit some of Polanco (Conservatorio Nacional by Mario Pani, School by Vladimir Kaspé, etc).

Day 9: Depart Mexico 

Breakfast.

Buffet breakfast at hotel. Transfer independently from the hotel to airport (private transfers are available for an additional cost if required). Return to your home city.
