Cross the Sea of Galilee aboard a wooden fishing boat built to represent vessels used during Bible times, and arrive at Capernaum, once a simple fishing village, where Jesus was often a guest of his disciple Peter. Visit the ruins of the ancient synagogue and house of Peter, then continue to Tabgha, site of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes and the Mount of Beatitudes, site of the Sermon on the Mount.

Full Day Itinerary
Western Wall, Jerusalem

Begin your day with a visit to the Mount of Olives. Walk the Palm Sunday path to Dominus Flevit Chapel and visit the ancient olive trees in the Garden of Gethsemane. Enter the Old City within the walls and walk the Via Dolorosa, the agonizing route Jesus walked with the cross on the way to Golgotha.

Explore the City of David and see the newest and exciting excavations of Jerusalem during the time of the first Temple period. The story of the City of David began over 3,000 years ago, when King David left the city of Hebron for a small hilltop city known as Jerusalem, establishing it as the unified capital of the tribes of Israel. Today, deep underground, the City of David is revealing some of the most exciting archeological finds of the ancient world. Walk through Hezekiah’s Tunnel which still flows with water.

Visit the Southern Wall Excavations, an impressive archaeological park containing artifacts from the First and Second Temple periods, the Byzantine Muslim period, the ancient Crusades period, among others. The Davidson Center is a museum within the archaeological park with  presentations and exhibitions related to findings from the site.

Continue to the Western Wall, the last remaining segment of the ancient walls that surrounded the Second Temple and considered the most sacred place where Jews are permitted to pray and is a symbol of Jewish yearning for their ancestral and spiritual homeland. (Don’t forget to put your prayer note in a crack in the wall before you leave.)

Day 8 March 31: Old City of Jerusalem

  • Via Dolorosa
  • Pools of Bethesda
  • Church of St. Anne
  • House of Caiaphas
  • Garden Tomb

Leonardo Plaza Jerusalem Breakfast & dinner

Full Day Itinerary
Garden Tomb, Jerusalem

Enter the gates of the old city and walk the Via Dolorosa. Arrive at the Pools of Bethesda dating back to the 2nd century BCE and the place where Jesus cured a sick man. According to tradition, Bethesda is also where Jesus’ maternal grandparents, Anne and Joachim, lived — and where his mother, Mary, was born. The Church of St Anne, built around 1140, with amazing acoustics that demand at least one hymn before leaving, stands nearby.

Continue to Caiaphas’ House at Peter in Gallicantu, the site of Jesus' trial by the High Priests and where Peter denied Jesus three times just as Jesus prophesized.

End the day with a visit and a communion service at the Garden Tomb, believed to be the garden and sepulcher of Joseph of Arimathea, and the site of the burial and resurrection of Jesus.
