Mandatory Travel Health Insurance Requirement

As of October 1, 2026, all foreign visitors entering mainland Tanzania by air, land or sea must hold a government inbound travel insurance policy, even if they already have their own travel insurance. This charge is imposed by the Government of Tanzania.

We strongly suggest buying this mandatory insurance online here: Government Site. Completing this in advance will save you a lot of time upon arrival in Tanzania. However, a desk will be available at the airport where you will be able to buy the insurance if you have not done so in advance.

Yellow Fever Vaccination Entry Requirements. Proof of Yellow Fever Vaccination is required for travelers arriving to Tanzania from a country with risk of Yellow Fever transmission. This includes airport transits or layovers of more than 12 hours in countries with a Yellow Fever risk.
