As the year draws to a close, we’ve been reflecting on how fortunate we are at Friendly Planet. We’ve weathered many storms in 2021, but you, our traveler community, have given us every reason to be thankful and optimistic for the future.

In July of 2021 when our tours began operating to open destinations, you enthusiastically joined our explorations of Egypt, the Galapagos, Kenya, and more. You willingly accepted new (sometimes very confusing) rules requiring vaccines, masks, and other protocols for the pleasure of roaming the world once again. And the reviews you’ve sent us as you returned from your travels have let us know that our extensive measures to keep you safe while enjoying your travels have succeeded. It doesn’t get any better than that!

All of us at Friendly Planet wish you and yours a wonderful holiday season full of good health, joy, and big dreams for 2022!

The Giving Season

After almost two years of pandemic, destructive weather, and endemic poverty, there are many people around the world who are suffering and need help. There are many causes worthy of support, but here are a few that are close to our hearts. Each of these organizations does an amazing job of making the lives of those they serve better. Please consider clicking below to learn about these programs and donate if you can.

  • Trailblazer Foundation's mission is to improve health, food security, education, and economic development in rural Cambodia in ways that are self-sustaining by the communities.
  • KIVA crowdsources microloans, improving the quality and cost of financial services, and addressing the underlying barriers to financial access around the world.
  • Doctors Without Borders provides assistance to populations in distress, victims of natural or man-made disasters, and victims of armed conflict. They do so irrespective of race, religion, creed, or political convictions.
  • The Smile Train is the world’s largest cleft-focused organization, with a sustainable and local model of supporting surgery and other forms of essential care.
  • Wounded Warriors Family Support provides support to the families of those who have been injured or killed during combat operations. The families of our casualties suffer in many ways: some financially, some psychologically.
