Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Depart USA
- Depart the USA on your overnight flight bound for Lisbon, Portugal. (Flight under own arrangements)
Day 2: Lisbon
3 nights at the Heritage Avenida da Liberdade. Dinner.
- Arrival at the Lisbon Airport and meet & greet by our English-speaking assistant.
- Transfer by private coach to the hotel for check-in
- Walking tour of Lisbon
- Welcome dinner with Fado Show
Day 3: Lisbon
Breakfast.
- Half Day walking tour of Lisbon
- Visit to Belem to the Jeronimos Monastery
- Evening at leisure
Full Day Itinerary: After breakfast, enjoy a half day walking tour of Lisbon to visit the Bairro Alto and Baixa neighborhoods, enjoy lunch on your own. Continue to Belem to visit the Jeronimos Monastery and sample some of the best Pastel Nata. You will have time to enjoy the sunset along the water before heading back to the hotel in the center of Lisbon.
Day 4: Lisbon
Breakfast.
- Full day tour of Lisbon
- Sunset viewing
Full Day Itinerary: After breakfast, begin your full day tour Lisbon. Start up high above the Alfama and work your way down through the winding streets and alleys. There is color, street life, architecture, trolleys, and new discovery around every corner. After enjoying lunch on your own, gather to take in the sunset from one of Lisbon's many 'Miradouros'.
Day 5: Lisbon – Golega – Fatima – Ourem – Alvados
2 nights at the Cooking & Nature Hotel. Breakfast, lunch & dinner.
- Photograph Lusitano horses
- Lunch in local restaurant
- Visit to Carlos Relvas Photography House-Studio
- Sacred site of Fatima
Full Day Itinerary: After breakfast, drive to Golegã to Photograph beloved Lusitano horses and have lunch in a local restaurant. Visit to the Carlos Relvas Photography House-Studio and visit the Quinta, near Golegã. Later, visit the sacred site of Fatima and then arrive about sunset to your 14th Century Castle on the hill at Ourém. At the hotel this evening, cook a Portuguese meal with your group to enjoy together.
Day 6: Alvados – Batalha – Alcobaca - Alvados
Breakfast.
- Visit Batalha and UNESCO World Heritage Site, Alcobaca
- Weather permitting, photograph opportunity of fog in the valley
- Travel to Alvados
Full Day Itinerary: After breakfast, you will visit Batalha, then off to another UNESCO World Heritage Site, Alcobaça. You will be up early to see if there is fog in the valley. From this vantage point, high atop our 'mountain', the landscapes in the morning are stunning. Continue later to Alvados.
Day 7: Alvados – Tomar - Porto
2 nights at the PortoBay Hotel Teatro. Breakfast & dinner.
- Visit UNESCO World Heritage Site, Tomar
- Dinner and private tour of a Port Cellar
- Evening photograph opportunity overlooking Porto
Full Day Itinerary: After breakfast, visit Tomar, the third of your UNESCO sites in the center of Portugal and one that never disappoints. After trip to Porto. Visit the monuments with free time to explore on your own. The pedestrian bridge provides a birds-eye view, and the train station is a feast for the eye with all the azulejos. Dinner and private tour of the most important Port Cellar in Portugal. To top off your day, there will be some night shooting overlooking the entire city of Porto.
Day 8: Porto
Breakfast.
- Half day city tour of Porto
- 1 hour cruise on Douro River
Full Day Itinerary: Half day tour Porto. The seaside offers color and local fisherman, families along the piers, and a spectacular lunch spot! Afterward, for those who wish, there'll be more time to photograph your favorite spots in Porto. Enjoy a cruise in Douro River for one hour.
Day 9: Porto – Obidos - Queluz
1 night at the Pousada da Vila de Obidos. Breakfast.
- Stop in Obidos to taste traditional ginjinha liquor
- Evening walking tour of Queluz
Full Day Itinerary: After breakfast, travel to Queluz, on your way, stop in Óbidos. Here, we'll also get to taste a traditional ginjinha liquor. After lunch, continue to Queluz where you will explore the neighborhood with your local guide.
Day 10: Queluz – Cascais – Estoril - Queluz
2 nights at the Pousada Palacio de Queluz. Breakfast.
Full Day Itinerary: After a two-minute walk over to the National Palace, photograph the marvelous interiors, gardens, and the Falcons. This evening take in the charming seaside town of Cascais and Estoril, the Portuguese "Riviera", after discovering a bit of coastline and Guincho beach. It's world famous for windsurfing and kitesurfing. Enjoy dinner later.
Day 11: Queluz – Sintra – Queluz
Breakfast & dinner.
Full Day Itinerary: Full day excursion to explore Sintra. Visit the Convento dos Capuchos, the Pena Palace, and the Regaleira are the highlights. Have lunch in the village and then later, gather for your final dinner together in the Old Kitchen at the Queluz National Palace.
Day 12: Return to USA from Lisbon
Breakfast.
- Transfer to the Lisbon airport for your return flight
